Andrey Shibko was born on 8 March 1975 in Minsk. He received his first musical instruction at the Music School for Children in his home city, and went on to study under Professor E. Poukst at the Minsk College of Music. In 1992 he became a student of the renowned teacher Valery Kastelsky(one of the last pupils of the famous “ Neuhaus School”) at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I.Tchaikovsky. Under his guidance Andrey Shibko took also post-graduate course there(1997-1999).
His first international success came in April 1995 when he was awarded First Prize at The 19th D’Angelo International Artist Competition in Erie(Pennsylvania,USA). “He gave a stunning performance of Liszt Piano Concerto in Es…If a competition can discover one unique talent,it is an overwhelming success”,said SamRotman,executive director of this competition.
In 1996 Andrey Shibko gave a recital in the framework of “The Great Performers Series”(together with Andre Watts,Janos Starker, Kathleen Battle,Julliard String Quartet) as well as performance with D’Angelo Symphony Orchestra (Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1,conductor-Frank Collura) at the D’Angelo Art Performing Center.
Also,he is laureate of famous International Piano Competitions in Europe : Porto (1998,1 prize). Géza Anda (Zürich ,2000,3rd prize), World Piano Competition in London(2002,3rd prize).
Thanks to these victories his concert activity is extensive – he played in USA, Japan,Korea Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal,Spain ,Switzerland,Austria,England.Many famouse orchestras invited him as a soloist: of Zürich (Tonhalle Orchestra under Lawrence Foster), Winterthur (Stadtorchester under Vladimir Ashkenazy),London Philharmonic Orchestra(under Tomasz Bugaj),Porto National , D’Angelo, Chautauqua, Osaka ,Thuringia e t c .. He participated in festivals: Carintischer Sommer(Austria), Viersener Klaviersommer(Germany),Maratea Musica (Italy) , played in Santory Hall(Tokyo),Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall(London), Tonhalle(Zurich).
Andrey Shibko has records on CD, Radio and TV. He often plays in chamber music concerts as well as performances with singers.He travel a lot as a soloist and with masterclasses in Russia ,Europe and Asia. In 1993 he gave first performance of Sonata f sharp minor(1903) of Igor Straninsky in Russia(Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory).
Since 1999 he has been teacher at piano faculty of the Moscow State Conservatory,since 2009 has its own class at the Conservatoire . Among students- laureats of International Piano competitions: Kanako Kajima ( "Pietro Argento", Italy,2009 , 2 prize), Sayaka Hivatasi (“Open Europe”, Moscow, 2010 , 2 prize),Yoko Yamasita ( Citta di Pesaro, Italy, 1 prize).
Among recent performances- concerts in the Chopin Festival in Gdansk, Poland (Chopin Concerto № 1,K.Bumann,conductor; and recital), festivals in Marienburg, Germany (solo concert «Hommage a Chopin and Schumann) and Kanonji, Japan, concert with the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra (Szczecin, Poland Brahms Concerto № 2).
