Curriculum Vitae:
P. Skusnichenko was born in Berezovka Village, Lvov District (Ukraine). In 1973 Skusnichenko graduated from Vocal Department of Musical College in Ljvov (class of K. Ivanova), and in 1978 he finished his studies at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Hugo Tietz). By 1980 his post-graduate studies were over.
Teaching:
While post-graduate studying P. Skusnichenko began teaching. Since 1979 he had been a teacher of solo singing in Academic Musical College in Association with Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (in 1986 he became Head of the College Vocal Department). Since 1980 P. Skusnichenko had been working at the Solo Singing Chair of the Moscow Conservatory. In 1995 he got the Professor Degree. Since 1995 P. Skusnichenko has been Head of the Solo Singing Faculty, and since 1997 he has been Dean of the Vocal Department of the Moscow Conservatory. (Acting Head of the Faculty and Acting Head of the Department since 2020.)
Master-classes and various courses:
P. Skusnichenko has given numerous master classes in Germany (1989), Finland (1990 – 1992), South Korea (1991 – 1994), Spain (1993), Italy, Japan, Holland, in the Moscow Conservatory (for foreign students, 1994 – 1996) and is still doing.
Participation in competition's jury:
P. Skusnichenko is a member of jury at the vocal M. I. Glinka, F. I. Chaliapin, P. Tchaikovsky, and S. Y. Lemeshev Competitions and at All-Russia “Bella voce” Competition. Head of Scientific-methodological Council in the Field of Vocal Education in Association with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Basic repertoire. Recitals:
In 1978 P. Skusnichenko made his debut in the Bolshoy Theatre and had been the soloist of the theatre till 1981. He performed the arias of Lensky; Triquet; Shuisky; Bomely; Paolo (“Francesca da Rimini” S. Rachmaninov); Mozart (“Mozart and Saliery” N. Rimsky-Korsakov); Gonzalvo (“L’heure espagnole” М. Ravel) and some others. Since 1982 till 1992 P. Skusnichenko had been working at the All-Union Radio and Television. He gave numerous concerts with the orchestras directed by G. Rozhdestvensky, V. Fedoseev, N. Nekrasov (the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, P. I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, etc.). P. Skusnichenko made a lot of records with the Choir of All-Union Radio and Television, records of Russian and Ukrainian folk songs, as well as S. Rachmaninov, P. Tchaikovsky romances. He went for concert tours to the cities of Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Belorussia and Kazakhstan. Professor P. Skusnichenko performed solo recitals in Finland (works of М. Glinka, A. Dargomyzhsky, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, C. Cui, P. Tchaikovsky, G. Verdi, G. Puccini, R. Leoncavallo, R. Strauss, F. Schubert. 1991–1993); Korea (works of Russian and foreign composers; Russian, Ukrainian and Italian folk songs. 1993–1996); the USA (arias of Paolo and Mozart); France (Lensky part played by “Opera Comic” theatre. He is distinguished by melodiousness, warmth and sincerity in his interpretations of musical-poetic characters.
