Curriculum Vitae:
The musician was born in Moscow. He began to study music at the age of 5. In 1984 – 1986 he attended the Children’s Choir Studio “Radost’”. The musician studied at Wind Instruments Children Musical School ¹ 80 named after V. Blazhevich in 1986 – 1993 (pedagogue N. A. Ekimov). Since 1993 till 1997 Astapenko was educated at Moscow Musical College named after A. Schnittke (pedagogue À. I. Frolova). In 2002 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with oboe specialty (pedagogue À. Y. Utkin) and in 2005 he finished the Post-Graduate Course. P. Astapenko is one of the founders of Russian web-site www.oboe.ru.
Teaching: Since 2006 he has been a pedagogue of the Moscow Conservatory. The musician successfully combines this position with teaching at Central Music School (College) of Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and Moscow State Classical Academy named after Maimonid.
Participation in competition's jury: In 2007 P. Astapenko was a member of jury at the International Competition, a part of musical project “Gilels - Kogan” (Moscow).
Basic repertoire. Recitals: The musician performs frequently as a soloist and a member of chamber ensembles.
He collaborated with À. Rudin, À. Ljubimov, À. Utkin, I. Hoffmann, R. Komachkov. P. Astapenko performed at Musical Festivals in Innsbruck, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kostomuksha, Pitsunda and other cities.
Since 1999 the musician has combined modern oboe playing with studying of its historic species. P. Astapenko took part in master-classes of such outstanding performers of old instruments, as Alfredo Bernardini (Innsbruck 2000-2002), Frank de Bruine (Kothen, 2001), Marcel Ponseele (St. Petersburg, 2001), Ku Ebbinge (Moscow, 2001). He also participated in master-classes of K. Schneider, S. Francis, À. Klein and N. Daniel in modern oboe.
In 2001 – 2003 P. Astapenko was a soloist of “Hermitage” ensemble directed by Alexey Utkin. Since 2002 he has been a soloist of Academic Chamber Orchestra “Musica Viva” directed by Alexander Rudin. The musician is frequently invited as a soloist to the well known Moscow orchestras (“Virtuozy Moskvy”, Russian National Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia). Since 2003 P. Astapenko has been a soloist of the first Russian Orchestra of old instruments “Pratum Integrum” directed by Pavel Serbin. In 2006 the musician founded the ensemble of wind instruments “L’Esprit du Vent”.
P. Astapenko plays the oboe made by French company “F. Loree”. The musician has collaborated with the company for years.
