Being one of the biggest musical conservatories in the world, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory also holds leading positions as a concert centre.
In its disposal it has a complex of concert halls providing a perfect opportunity for realization of various creative ideas on the highest professional level.
These include a wonderful Great Hall which is widely used both for symphony, choral, organ and chamber concerts plus a «quartet» of chamber halls — Small, Rachmaninov, Myaskovsky (former White Hall) and Conference Hall — each of them having its individual look, acoustic features and long standing concert traditions.
At the beginning, before the new Conservatory building appeared, the Moscow Conservatory had a small chamber hall in an old private house, — where the whole Conservatory was also situated, — which made the Conservatory’s administration to work hard seeking various possibilities for student’s concerts including Moscow theatres and other venues.
But everything has changed at the turn of the centuries when Small and Great Halls were opened for the musicians and audiences impressing all of them by their unbelievable acoustics and inside decorations.
For more then 100 years concert halls of the Moscow Conservatory are considered in the world as the best and most prestigious concert venues being at the same time a sort of the Conservatory’s «visiting card».
The Conservatory’s halls see the appearances of the best soloists and ensembles, musical festivals and famous competitions, new musical names and well known stars of the international performance art.
